  • Desogen dosage

To achieve maximum contraceptive effectiveness, desogen pills must be taken exactly as directed, at the same time every day, and at intervals not exceeding 24 hours. The possibility of ovulation and conception prior to initiation of use of Desogen tablets should be considered. A woman can begin to take Desogen either on the first Sunday after the onset of her menstrual period or on the first day of her menstrual period. When switching from another oral contraceptive, Desogen should be started on the same day that a new pack of the previous oral contraceptive would have been started.

When initiating a Sunday start regimen, another method of contraception, such as condoms or spermicide, should be used for the first 7 consecutive days of taking Desogen pills.

Tablets are taken daily without interruption as follows: One white tablet is taken daily for 21 days, followed by 1 green tablet daily for 7 days. For all subsequent cycles, the patient then begins a new 28-tablet regimen on the next day after taking the last green tablet.

If you misses 1 white tablet in Weeks 1, 2, or 3, you should take the missed tablet as soon as you remembers. If you misses 2 consecutive white tablets in Week 1 or Week 2, you should take 2 tablets the day she remembers and 2 tablets the next day; thereafter, you should resume taking 1 tablet daily until you finishes the cycle pack.

Take Novelon pills every day for 21 days. It comes in strips of 21 pills, each marked with a day of the week. Take your pill at the same time every day. Start by taking a pill marked with the correct day of the week, then follow the direction of the arrows on the strip. Take one pill each day, until you have finished all 21 tablets. Swallow each pill as a whole, with water if necessary. Do not chew the pill. After you have taken all 21 pills in the strip, you have seven days when you take no pills.

For new users, take your first pill on the first day of your next period. By starting in this way, you will have contraceptive protection with your first pill. If your period has already begun, start taking the pill on day 5 (counting the first day of your period as day 1) whether or not the bleeding has stopped. You must also use extra contraception, such as condoms, until you have taken the first seven pills correctly.

If you missed a dose that is due less than 12 hours ago, take the delayed pill right away and proceed with the next pills as usual. If you missed a pill that was due more than 12 hours ago, take the pill that is due this day and leave the earlier missed pill. Proceed taking all other pills as usual. Take extra precautions (e.g. condoms) for the next 7 days.

If you missed more than 7 pills from the first week of your strip, and you had sex in that week, you might get pregnant. Discard the entire strip, and talk to your doctor ASAP.

It is important that Novelon pills should not be taken by women allergic to this drug.

Hey you. I was on Desogen for 8 years! I am 5'5" 107-115 lbs. I actually have tried 6 different pills until I found this one. It was the best for my body type and without all the side effects. The others made me gain weight and made my stomach bloat. Hope this helped.

I was on Desogen for about six months, and I LOVE IT!!! But I was sad when I found out from my pharmacy that Desogen is no longer on formulary. Because of it, I would have to pay full price and it is too expensive. So pharmacist told me to switch to generic version which is Apri. Is there anything I should be aware of?

I have been taken novelon tablets for 3 months for irregularitis of menstrutation. I have stooped this pill from last 1 months and i have now regular period. But i have gained 7 kgs weight.

The first couple of weeks definitely took some getting use Novelon. My stomach was upset especially before getting my period and I would feel super bloated way before my period was due. I'm almost 4 months in and the upset stomach and bloating has stopped except during actual periods. Other than that I really like it.
