I've been taking generic valaciclovir by Apotex (availible in EU) since June. I was prescribed 500mg 3 times day. But I don't have any side effects so far. I know it is too early to say if it works. But is there anyone who got better and didn't have adverse effects during treatment? At my next appointment I going to ask for higher doses for me and I will also consider possibility to switch to original brand.

There are generics of both acyclovir and valacyclovir on the market. Most are from India and much much cheaper, made by reputable firms with a presence in the US under FDA approval... like Ajanta, Cipla, and Ranbaxy.

It seems Valacyclovir have minimum or not effect in me. I take 2k mg 12 hours apart and the virus still follows its life cycle. Maybe it gets more discreet to the sight, but thats all about it.

Also used 0,25% Desoximetasone Cream applied to sores and rash three times daily. Between the Cream and Famvir there were daily improvements in pain, skin tenderness, itching, etc. A slight tenderness in one spot caused me to continue the cream for two days after finishing the Famvir treatment.
