The dosing is based on the nature of the infection and the severity of the patient's condition. Flagyl tablets come in 250 and 500 mg sizes. In most cases, patients are given 250 mg three times a day for one week. Single day doses are given in divided doses of one gram each.
Those treating amebiasis will be given 750 mg three times a day for 5-10 days. Children with this condition will be given 35-50 mg a day in three divided doses for up to 10 days. Dosing size will be based on the child's weight.
When treating anaerobic bacterial infections, adults will be given approximately 500 mg every six hours, with doses not exceeding 4g in a 24 hour period. In most cases these doses will be given for 7-10 days. Children suffering from this condition will be given a dose based on their weight, often 7.5 mg for every kilogram of body weight.
Flagyl is in pregnancy category B meaning that it is usually safe to take this medication while you are pregnant, but you should check with your doctor to ensure that any potential risk is outweighed by the foreseen benefits.
Those who suffer from seizures, epilepsy, liver disease or stomach or intestinal disorders may not be able to take a full dose of Metronidazole as the medication could impact treatments for these conditions, making your body unable to clear the drug from your system properly.

Take cipro exactly as your doctor tells you to. It is usually taken twice daily for a week or so, although some infections can be treated with a single tablet.
Before you start taking cipro, read the manufacturer's printed information leaflet from inside the pack. It will give you more information about the medicine and a full list of the side-effects which you may experience from taking it.
You should swallow the tablets whole - do not crush or chew them as they have an unpleasant taste. You can take ciprofloxacin before or after meals. You should not take cipro with milk or fortified orange juice as these drinks can interfere with the way it works. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
Do not drink milk or take indigestion remedies or medicines containing iron or zinc, during the two hours before you take cipro, or during the two hours after you have taken a dose. This is because these things interfere with the way cipro is absorbed by your body, and stop it from working fully.
Even if you feel your infection has cleared up, keep taking the antibiotic until the course is finished. This is to prevent the infection from coming back. A course of treatment usually lasts for about a week or so, although it can range from 3-28 days. If you still feel unwell after finishing the course of treatment, go back to see your doctor.
I have never been more terrified after taking a drug before in my life. As instructed, I didn't drink or use any mouthwash or other products that contain alcohol. However, after two days on flagyl, my hands and arms were tingling. My neck was sore. My ears were ringing. I couldn't eat, I wanted to, but I couldn't. I was having problems speaking, I couldn't form complete sentences or say common words. I felt sick, like one does with the flu. And I was very confused and disoriented. I stopped taking it more than 48 hours ago, and I still feel like I have the worst flu I've ever had. I didn't come to this website to write a review. I came to see if I could find out how much longer I can expect my misery to last. I only decided to write this review because my experience has been so scary and miserable. I wanted to share it with others.
I was taking Cipro and Flagyl together for 7 days to relieve ulcerative colitis symptoms. The first two days i felt extremely sick and didnt feel well at all and i almost called the doctor but i decided to stick with it and by the third day the side effects went away and everything was dandy. My experience with this drug has been over the top. It was extremely helpful in making me feel better.
I was able do my work without hassles and I'm free from pain right now. There's no need for me to cry anymore whenever I urinate. The only side effect for me is just a muscle pain for just only 3 days. This illness always occur when I use a tissue paper whenever I urinate. Until I discover Cipro, I finally ended up my pains as I took this medicine. It really works for me.
