To achieve maximum contraceptive effectiveness, desogen pills must be taken exactly as directed, at the same time every day, and at intervals not exceeding 24 hours. The possibility of ovulation and conception prior to initiation of use of Desogen tablets should be considered. A woman can begin to take Desogen either on the first Sunday after the onset of her menstrual period or on the first day of her menstrual period. When switching from another oral contraceptive, Desogen should be started on the same day that a new pack of the previous oral contraceptive would have been started.
When initiating a Sunday start regimen, another method of contraception, such as condoms or spermicide, should be used for the first 7 consecutive days of taking Desogen pills.
Tablets are taken daily without interruption as follows: One white tablet is taken daily for 21 days, followed by 1 green tablet daily for 7 days. For all subsequent cycles, the patient then begins a new 28-tablet regimen on the next day after taking the last green tablet.
If you misses 1 white tablet in Weeks 1, 2, or 3, you should take the missed tablet as soon as you remembers. If you misses 2 consecutive white tablets in Week 1 or Week 2, you should take 2 tablets the day she remembers and 2 tablets the next day; thereafter, you should resume taking 1 tablet daily until you finishes the cycle pack.
Yasmin is a birth control pill. It combines synthetic versions of two female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, and prevents pregnancy by: stopping ovulation, preventing the release of an egg; thickening cervical mucus so sperm has difficulty traveling into the uterus; preventing a fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus.

Take one tablet by mouth at the same time every day. The failure rate may increase when pills are missed or taken incorrectly.

Begin taking Yasmin either on the first day of her menstrual period or on the first Sunday after the onset of her menstrual period.
You should take one yellow Yasmin daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by one white tablet daily on Days 22 through 28. Yasmin should be taken in the order directed on the package at the same time each day, preferably after the evening meal or at bedtime with some liquid, as needed. Yasmin can be taken without regard to meals.
When switching from another birth control pill, Yasmin should be started on the same day that a new pack of the previous oral contraceptive would have been started.
For postpartum women who do not breastfeed or after a second trimester abortion, start Yasmin no earlier than 4 weeks postpartum due to the increased risk of thromboembolism. If the patient starts Yasmin postpartum and has not yet had a period, evaluate for possible pregnancy, and instruct her to use an additional method of contraception until she has taken Yasmin for 7 consecutive days.
Hey you. I was on Desogen for 8 years! I am 5'5" 107-115 lbs. I actually have tried 6 different pills until I found this one. It was the best for my body type and without all the side effects. The others made me gain weight and made my stomach bloat. Hope this helped.
I was on Desogen for about six months, and I LOVE IT!!! But I was sad when I found out from my pharmacy that Desogen is no longer on formulary. Because of it, I would have to pay full price and it is too expensive. So pharmacist told me to switch to generic version which is Apri. Is there anything I should be aware of?
I was on Yasmin a few years ago and had no problems at all whilst taking it. I have recently been on loestrin 20. After taking it for 3 months and having bleeding for 3 weeks out of 4 I have stopped and I am considering asking the doctor for Yasmin again!
I really like Yasmin. I have been using it for nine months and it has been great. It has been great for cramps and I have only experienced slight weight gain (due to increased cravings). The only side effect I had was nausea. I experienced nausea when I took the pill and did not have food in my stomach. If I ate before taking it, it was great! Overall, I have had a great experience with Yasmin.
I have been on Yasmine for 2 years. I did not take any weight with this pill and my periods are finally regulated! Also helped my skin! I suffer from migrains since I was 6 years old and this pill did not increase them. I was also on anxiety medication when I started this contraceptive and I did not get depressive one bit, even when I stopped my anxiety meds. I love yasmine!
